Movement to Seal Old Records for Millions of Americans Reaches Pivotal Moment in California

landmark hearing took place today that will set the precedent for improving the lives of millions of Americans with old records, our nation’s economy and public safety. A judge approved the record sealing petitions of seven Californians, making them the first in California history to have their criminal records sealed under the state’s groundbreaking new law, Senate Bill 731 (SB 731).


FL STATE SENATE PASSES CURTIS’ LAW IN SUPPORT OF CRIME SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The Florida Senate today passed HB 233 – also known as Curtis’ Law – in a bipartisan vote, expanding support for crime victims and their families. The bill is named after Curtis Williamson, a young man who was murdered over two decades ago, and would ensure that families of homicide victims have access to basic information about their cases and investigations.
