Establishing a Public Safety and Violence Prevention Fund

House Bills 4260 and 4261 establish a public safety and violence prevention fund. The Michigan Public Safety Trust Fund (MPSTF) will provide $115 million to deliver recurring funding for public safety to communities across Michigan, including $1.5 million for community-based violence intervention (CVI) and $1.5 million for victim compensation.

Alliance for Safety and Justice has long advocated for robust funding for victim compensation, having led historic reforms in the state in 2023. We also advocate for investments into proven programs that make our communities safer, like violence prevention programs.

The ASJ team along with our partners at Crime Survivors Speak – the nation’s largest victim organization – are working in support of this legislation and advancing it.
