Crime Survivors Speak: Pennsylvania Victims' Views on Safety and Justice

Millions of Pennsylvanians have experienced violence in the past decade, facing lasting impacts such as trauma, job loss, eviction, and financial hardship, yet their voices have rarely shaped how the state spends its $9 billion annual criminal justice budget. To change that, Just Safe and Crime Survivors Speak surveyed 1,800 Pennsylvania residents statewide to understand victims’ experiences and their priorities for safety and justice reform. The findings reveal strong support among survivors for prevention, healing, alternatives to incarceration, and investments in community-based solutions that reduce violence and build safer communities across Pennsylvania.
