Policy Priorities

We drive bipartisan policy reform efforts to improve our criminal justice system, prevent crises from becoming crime and strengthen public safety for all communities. Our solutions are cost-effective, evidence-based and grounded in safety, fairness, accountability and justice.

Our state policy advocacy, expertise and strategy implementation falls into four key areas

Hugging Women

Healing + Safety for Victims of Violence

Victims deserve protection and a chance to heal and recover. We develop, promote and advocate for policies that improve and expand support for victims.

Smart Sentencing

Sentencing policy shouldn’t be driven by slogans; it should be driven by science. One-size-fits-all policy approaches usually waste public resources and fail to reduce recidivism. We advocate for a balanced approach to sentencing that holds people accountable while also focusing on requirements that reduce future harm like rehabilitation, restorative justice, treatment and workforce readiness.

Real Redemption

Once people have served their sentence and paid their dues, they should be able to live past their past. We advocate for policies that help people with old records gain stability, employment and economic opportunity. Redemption is good for safety, families and the economy.

New Community Safety Solutions

We advocate for policies that prevent crises from becoming crime and reduce the likelihood of repeat crime by meeting the needs of people who have experienced violence and trauma, and ensuring people who are vulnerable can access immediate support
