Policy Priorities
We drive bipartisan policy reform efforts to improve our criminal justice system, prevent crises from becoming crime and strengthen public safety for all communities. Our solutions are cost-effective, evidence-based and grounded in safety, fairness, accountability and justice.

Smart Sentencing
Sentencing policy shouldn’t be driven by slogans; it should be driven by science. One-size-fits-all policy approaches usually waste public resources and fail to reduce recidivism. We advocate for a balanced approach to sentencing that holds people accountable while also focusing on requirements that reduce future harm like rehabilitation, restorative justice, treatment and workforce readiness.

Real Redemption
Once people have served their sentence and paid their dues, they should be able to live past their past. We advocate for policies like record expungement and occupational licensing reform, that help people with old records gain stability, employment, and economic opportunity. Redemption is good for safety, families and the economy.

New Community Safety Solutions
We advocate for investments into proven community-based safety solutions like violence prevention, trauma recovery centers, mental health crisis response, and reentry. These solutions can prevent crises from becoming crime and reduce the likelihood of repeat crime by meeting the needs of people who have experienced violence and trauma, and ensuring people who are vulnerable can access immediate support.
